The "Living Dementia Approach" Examines Ways to Understand the Journey Vancouver, BC, (March 1, 2006) -- CruiseRespite today announces the release of The Living Dementia Approach. This philosophy of dementia care will be presented at the 2006 Joint Conference of the National Council on Aging and the American Society on Aging in Anaheim, California, March 16-19. 2006. The theme of the conference is, "Invest in Aging: Strengthening Families, Communities and Ourselves." To quote Gloria Cavanaugh, ASA President & CEO, "Although later life is complex, it brings a wealth of experience and other strengths." The Living Dementia Approach not only strengthens the family, but also focuses on the life experience and strengths of the person with dementia. With insight and clarity, The Living Dementia Approach explores common issues that caregivers face on a daily basis, from memory loss and communication challenges to bathing and wandering issues. Conference participants will discover creative care solutions in the Living Dementia Approach. Utilizing strength-based care, participants will embrace who the person was prior to the diagnosis.
