“Pigs in Paris”
It is early AM at Tick Tock Manor. As I am preparing Hilda for her breakfast, and getting ready for the day, I notice a picture hanging on Hilda’s bedroom wall. It catches my attention, because I see a “younger Hilda” feeding some animal with a baby bottle.
Caregiver: “Hilda, tell me about this picture.”
Hilda: “It’s me & my husband; we’re having dinner in this nice restaurant in Paris.”
Caregiver: “Wow! Hilda, in Paris !! Who is this you are feeding?”
Hilda: “Oh, says Hilda, “that’s the pig they rolled around to each table in the restaurant for us to feed. I guess they didn’t want us to order pork on the menu.”
Not only does this story-time evoke fond memories for Hilda, but also there is created a bonding between caregiver and person with dementia. Hilda is reminded of times gone by with her husband in a special place, and the caregiver is given an invaluable moment to connect with Hilda, forming a climate of trust and rapport. This is very important in the communication process as there is now created a bonding.
Communication is a fundamental aspect of all human relationships. However, communicating with persons with dementia is dramatically different from communicating with a bright and alert person. In the Breakthrough Communication seminar, the caregiver will …..

- be inspired to recognize who this person was prior to the diagnosis of dementia
- be motivated to try other forms of communication when all verbal communication fails
- be challenged to focus on familiar when doing tasks together
- be empowered by utilizing the Circle of Care model for communication
Enroll in this seminar today and you, the caregiver, will discover amazing results in communicating with persons with dementing illness. Communication barriers such as having problems understanding, having problems being understood, and dealing with anger issues will all be eliminated.
